Borg de Visa is a small but lively village with all amenities and within easy reach of Tissendie are the “Les Plus Beaux Villages de France” (The Most Beautiful Villages of France) Lauzerte and Auvillar, which are both on the famous Pilgrim Trail to Santiago de Compostela. Larger towns such as Moissac and Agen are also close by with Toulouse an hour away.
Things to do
You will not be short of things to do including visiting UNESCO listed sites, beautiful chateaux, museums, lakes, beaches, grottos and vineyards.
Canoeing, pony-trekking, water-sports, running, golf, walking and cycling are all popular activities and with a number of endurance races in the region at certain times of the year.
Exquisite food and wine are produced in the area and there are plenty of opportunities to sample duck, foie gras and a variety of good local wines. There are many good restaurants from Michelin Star to small bistros or you can even choose to stay in and have a catered for evening from our resident Chef.
Colourful local markets are held in many nearby towns and villages throughout the year and are a great place to pick up seasonal and regional specialities to try back at the gite or to take home.
Most of the nearby villages and towns including Borg de Visa have markets selling local produce throughout the year and guests can enjoy sampling the range of specialities of the seasons. Most of the villages put on their own “marché gourmand” (gourmet market) on different nights of the week throughout July and August.
Visitors to the gîte can also choose to relax by the pool, soak up the peace and quiet of the immediate surroundings or take advantage of a spa treatment (or two!).
